I began working with Alix & Monique back in 2019 when I came on board to realise their plans of a glorious summer wedding at Chatsworth House. Their wedding was scheduled for July 2020 and well, we all know what happened in that time frame… So, fast forward a few years and their ever-imagined day came to fruition. It was everything they wanted. Chatsworth House was always the place Alix & Monique wanted to marry, it was where Monique proposed to Alix and it’s where Alix’s family visit and spend time at, locally.
Planning a destination wedding, wherever you are in the world always comes with its challenges. Here at Jessica Sharpe Weddings, UK Destination Weddings make up some of my very favourites. When you are planning for a destination wedding, you’re faced with time zone issues and not being physically on the ground to troubleshoot, meet suppliers and visualise your plans. Hiring a planner is always a wise decision but even more so when your living out of the country. Early on in Alix & Monique’s wedding planning, it was clear their priorities were to celebrate with their families and friends and really enjoy the day.
High on the list of priorities was an outdoor wedding ceremony. Both Alix & Monique felt drawn to saying their vows outside, and by careful consideration and negotiations, I could make this happen for them, alongside their venue. Never a couple to do things any other way than their own, first down the aisle were their flower boys. Alix’ two, fully grown, fully adult nephews who ever so beautifully lined their aisle. The ceremony was conducted by one of their closest friends and was executed with the perfect combination of warmth, humour and love. That wedding ceremony will always be one of my most memorable!
Following their wedding ceremony, Alix & Monique celebrated within the Carriage House at Chatsworth. The Carriage House has beautifully high ceilings and I wanted to utilise this space by creating simple, colourful but impactful floral designs by the ever-so-talented Sarahs Florists. The couple chose to celebrate with an informal BBQ menu which went down a storm. They then partied the night away with Mowtown and Soul band – OJ’s Soul Band.
It was so fabulous to plan Alix & Monique’s UK Wedding at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire. Do take a look at my ‘how to plan a destination wedding‘ blog if you’re wondering how it happens. “Our wedding had so many obstacles. We were planning a wedding in Bakewell from Los Angeles. Through 2 postponements. Jessica stuck with us the whole time. She was a calming force and we always knew she had everything under control. When it finally happened it was absolutely flawless. All of the coordination with vendors, staging, transitions all happened without us even being aware of it. Absolute perfection. When asked what our favorite part of our wedding was, we say our Planner, Jessica”
