Guest count has never been the measure of a wedding’s significance. Lauren and Kit’s celebration at Yorebridge House was a reminder that some of the most impactful weddings are those shared with only a handful of your favourite people.
With just 27 guests in attendance, this was an intentionally intimate wedding in every sense of the word. The couple travelled from the United States to marry in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, joined by their closest family and friends, the majority of whom had also made the journey across the Atlantic to celebrate with them.
When every guest has travelled thousands of miles to be there, the experience becomes about so much more than a single wedding day. It becomes about creating a weekend that feels personal, immersive and unforgettable from the moment they arrive.
A True ‘Welcome to Yorkshire’ Experience
From the outset, Lauren and Kit wanted their guests to experience the very best of Yorkshire hospitality. Waiting in each guest bedroom was a carefully curated welcome gift featuring local favourites, including Betty’s tea and artisan Yorkshire chocolate. Small details like these helped set the tone for the weekend and immediately connected guests to the place they had travelled so far to discover.
These thoughtful touches are one of the reasons I love planning intimate weddings. With a smaller guest count, there is often more opportunity to focus on the individual guest experience and create meaningful moments. Every decision throughout the weekend was made with intention and care.
The Welcome Dinner
The welcome dinner was held the evening before the wedding, bringing everyone together for an unhurried evening of good food and conversation. The evening centred around a seasonal menu and a relaxed atmosphere, with long tables encouraging guests to linger over dinner.
Guests chose between beef carpaccio with rocket and truffle or burrata with garlic and tomato to start, followed by Wensleydale lamb with ratatouille or ricotta and spinach ravioli with sage. Dessert offered a choice of lemon posset with raspberry sorbet or cheesecake with passionfruit and mango, rounding off the evening perfectly. It was a thoughtful way to begin the celebrations, allowing everyone to settle into the weekend before the wedding day arrived. Never about doing more, just doing everything well.
An Intimate Celebration, Exceptionally Curated
There was a wonderful warmth throughout the weekend, helped enormously by Lauren and Kit’s incredibly kind and welcoming nature. Every guest genuinely cared for the couple, creating an atmosphere that felt relaxed, joyful and deeply personal.
The gorgeous Yorkshire sunshine certainly played its part, allowing guests to enjoy the spectacular Dales surroundings and spend quality time together between celebrations.
Exceptional Hospitality & Dining
Hospitality was a key part of Lauren & Kit’s wedding weekend, with each dining experience designed to bring guests together and create moments to slow down and enjoy the celebration.
Yorebridge House provided the perfect backdrop, with a team who delivered a service that felt warm, attentive and effortless throughout the weekend. From the welcome dinner through to the wedding day itself, every meal was carefully considered to reflect the atmosphere of each occasion and the experience Lauren & Kit wanted to create for their guests.
On the wedding day, guests enjoyed a beautifully curated menu showcasing seasonal ingredients and elegant presentation. The meal began with a choice of Wensleydale cheese tart with pesto and tomato or cured salmon with beetroot and watercress, followed by Nidderdale chicken with tarragon and mushroom or Wensleydale beef with château potato and Yorkshire pudding. To finish, guests chose between lemon cake with cream or chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, bringing the dining experience to a relaxed and memorable close.
Food was a central part of the weekend, creating time for guests to connect, savour the occasion and enjoy the thoughtful details woven throughout Lauren & Kit’s celebration.
Designing for connection.
One of my favourite design decisions from the weekend was the intentional use of booth seating. At first glance, it may seem like a simple styling choice, but every element was carefully considered. Lauren and Kit placed enormous trust in me in the design process, allowing us to create spaces that encouraged conversation and connection.
The layout naturally invited guests to linger longer, share stories, enjoy another glass of wine and fully immerse themselves in the celebration. Rather than rushing from one part of the day to the next, the design encouraged a slower pace and meaningful interaction.
“The entire wedding weekend, Jess was a very calm presence. I was not aware of anything that went wrong, and I know she is to thank for that. Jess brought my vision to life, and everything was exactly how I imagined it would be. She did an especially good job planning the layout of our venue, organizing furniture to fit the space, and designing the tablescapes. The florals, stationary, and hire items all went together so well and created such a beautiful space. She did an amazing job with both logistical/organizational and creative/visual planning.
Overall, I feel like the best part of the wedding was the atmosphere. Jess really understood what we wanted the day to feel like, and I am so impressed with how she made that feeling come to life. Every detail felt intentional, and her being there allowed us to be fully present in the moment with our guests.”
Whimsical Yet Refined.
Visually, the wedding struck a beautiful balance between whimsical romance and timeless elegance.
Nothing felt overdone. Every detail had purpose. From the guest experience to the dining, entertainment and design, the celebration felt authentic to Lauren and Kit while remaining effortlessly sophisticated.
Even the music reflected this approach, with an intimate live duo providing the soundtrack to the weekend while bringing a fresh and unexpected twist to the traditional wedding entertainment experience.
Lauren and Kit’s Yorkshire Dales wedding weekend was a perfect example of how an intentionally intimate celebration can feel every bit as luxurious, meaningful and memorable as a grand-scale event, while offering something unique in return: the opportunity to create unforgettable moments for every single guest.
