Isobel & Charles’ Marquee Wedding at Home

Planning a marquee wedding at home offers a unique blend of intimacy, personalisation, and style. There is however, an awful lot more to consider when planning an ‘at home’ wedding and undertaking the expertise of a professional wedding planner is often a non-negotiable. I had the pleasure of orchestrating a breathtaking wedding for Isobel and Charles on the Derbyshire/Cheshire border. This charming wedding was filled with thoughtful design, expert collaboration, and the undeniable charm of celebrating love at home.

We hosted their wedding in a Wills Marquee provided by the exceptional team at Green Farm Marquees. Together, we worked to create an elevated experience for the couple and their guests. One standout feature was a newly designed round bar in pristine white, which became a central hub of the celebration.

Isobel and Charles’ wedding journey began with a magical church ceremony, after which guests walked up the country lane toward the marquee. Wildflowers lined either side and guests were welcomed by planters crafted by the bride’s father adding a personal touch. The gardens, designed by the talented Rachel Platt Designs, created an enchanting prelude to the reception, showcasing the home’s magnificent views of the surrounding village.

A Bespoke Marquee Layout

To deliver the unique feel the couple envisioned, I designed a layout that deviated from traditional marquee setups. The central focal point was a showstopping lighting and floral installation suspended above the top table, perfectly nestled between two marquee poles. This feature added height, drama, and elegance to the space, seamlessly blending the natural beauty of the surroundings with the celebration.

The tables were adorned with textured cream linens, which complemented the marquee’s neutral palette and allowed the vibrant pink, white, and green floral arrangements to shine. The overall effect was one of understated luxury and harmony with the countryside setting.

Culinary Delights, Elevated Entertainment, and Fizz (and lots of it!)

Guests were treated to an open bar, featuring a thoughtfully curated drinks menu that reflected the couple’s tastes. Dinner was a Mediterranean-inspired feast, with tapas sharing boards and family-style feasting platters. This interactive dining experience encouraged conversation and added a convivial atmosphere to the evening. As the evening progressed, the couple added an extra touch of elegance with a champagne tower, which delighted guests and offered a fun yet luxurious highlight to the celebrations.

Their party continued late into the night with unforgettable entertainment provided by the Kudos Show Band. Their vibrant performance had everyone dancing under the stars, ensuring the night ended on a high note.

Designing an At-Home Marquee Wedding to Remember

From the curated design details to the flow of the day, every element of this marquee wedding at home was meticulously planned to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience. Whether it was the bespoke floral installation, the textured linens, or the stunning walk through the gardens, this wedding proved how transformative an at-home celebration can be.

Planning a marquee wedding at home requires creativity, precision, and collaboration with trusted partners, and this event exemplified the magic that can happen when those elements come together.
