Lake District Marquee Wedding – Irton House, overlooking Skiddaw.
“Planning Mackenzie & Steve’s wedding in the Lake District was a wonderful reminder of just how powerful a sense of place can be. With the couple and the majority of their guests travelling from San Francisco, it was important that the weekend felt unmistakably Lake District: from their relaxed welcome party overlooking Catbells to their wedding in a marquee with Skiddaw as the backdrop.
The design was elegant but relaxed, with soft creams, an abundance of greens, textured grasses and subtle heather tones drawn from the surrounding landscape. Flowing drapery echoed the shape of the mountains inside the marquee, while bespoke green-striped bars, layered lounge spaces, abundant florals and carefully considered tablescapes created a setting that felt immersive without ever competing with the view.
With just 60 guests, every detail could be personal. From handwritten notes for each guest to a menu rooted in the local landscape, the weekend was designed around bringing people together and giving guests travelling from California a real taste of the Lake District. It was a beautifully relaxed wedding weekend, full of thoughtful detail, glorious weather and some of the most incredible views the Lake District has to offer.”
