A bouquet bursting with sunflowers, a relaxed tipi set up in the grounds of a Grade 2 listed Elizabethan manor house, and a musical undercurrent featuring a gospel choir…if any of these things sound like a good time to you, you’re going to love Sarah and Tina’s West Yorkshire tipi wedding!
This gorgeous couple chose Hodroyd Hall near Felkirk for their celebrations, choosing to stay throughout the weekend to elongate the fun. ‘Fun’ is a word that really encapsulates this wedding for me, and when I think back on it now I remember it as vibrant, upbeat and humming with the sound of a crowd enjoying every second. We rarely had a planning meeting that didn’t involve hysterical laughter at something or other, which shows you perfectly the kind of people Sarah and Tina are and the energy they brought to their wedding.
Their wedding weekend began with an informal celebration on the Friday evening, a wonderful way to help everyone (including you as a couple) relax into the atmosphere and spend quality time with loved ones. Saturday saw the couple get ready at Hodroyd Hall – another benefit to arriving on the Friday evening is that you don’t need to travel to your venue on the day of your wedding! Their ceremony was held in The Orangery against its lovely brickwork backdrop, enhanced by a fun, full floral installation by Tweedle Floral Design that echoed and complemented their bouquet designs. This is such a beautiful space with its soft natural lighting, and perfectly blends the time-aged allure of a historical venue with modern features.
Following their ceremony and reception, Sarah and Tina’s West Yorkshire tipi wedding got underway in the grounds of the venue. The food was served sharing board style which really encouraged the relaxed vibe, conversation and connection which were so present during the whole weekend.
One of Sarah and Tina’s big passions is music, and so it featured heavily throughout the day in different forms. During the ceremony a gospel choir sung, following through to the drinks reception. In the evening a saxophone and DJ combination took guests from day to night and helped bring the party to life. Mixing up the styles of music in this way gives your guests different focal points throughout the day and guides them through the flow of the celebration, keeping each section of the day fresh and exciting.
