Marquee weddings are some of my absolute favourites, however, marquee wedding venues aren’t always super easy to spot so here’s my pick of the best marquee wedding venues in Derbyshire for your wedding.
Derbyshire is truly an area of outstanding beauty. It has a fabulous mixture of quaint picturesque villages such as Baslow, Grindelford and Hathersage, and bustling market towns such as Bakewell and Ashbourne whilst only being moments away from the larger more cosmopolitan cities such as Manchester, Sheffield and Derby. It’s no wonder that people travel far and wide to host their weddings in the beautiful countryside of Derbyshire.
Heathy Lea is an exclusive-use wedding venue, located within the Chatsworth estate just a stone’s throw away from Baslow. The estate offers two great locations to situate your marquee and the views are absolutely incredible. It’s not uncommon to see deer and rabbits roaming about the grounds! Quite unusually for a marquee site, there is an area which is licensed for outdoor civil ceremonies. New for 2023 Heathy Lea has introduced the most beautiful shepherd hut accommodation in addition to the cottages which make the perfect wedding guest accommodation. The marquee space is large enough for a wedding of 150 guests.

Brosterfield Farm is located near the wonderfully characterful village of Foolow in the Peak Distrct. It really is very charming! With accommodation on site for 38 guests and lots of options nearby, there are plenty of options!
A little different from the others, Tissington’s Marquee is a fixed structure within the grounds. 150 guests can comfortably dine, with an additional 50 guests able to join in the evening. The flexibility to create your own stamp on the space still, the marquee is contemporary yet but stylish.

Shiningford Manor hosts up to 19 guests in its luxurious accommodation inclusive of hot tubs and a swimming pool. The marquee wedding venue offers complete privacy, and is located by the tranquil Carsington Waters – the location is truly idyllic. With a choice of two marquee sites within its estate and more accommodation options nearby, there’s not much not to like!

Within the grounds of the Chatsworth Estate, Chatsworth is offering marquee weddings. It’s in a beautiful location on the banks of the river Derwent with Chatsworth house as an elegant backdrop providing an opportunity for photographs within the gardens whilst remaining in a quieter, exclusive and private location. The catering and bar aspects are available via their established wedding catering service, however, there is a dry hire element available.
Eyam Hall is located in the Hope Valley. This marquee wedding venue hosts weddings in their stunning marquee croft which leads from the beautiful walled gardens. This big open space has incredible views to Eyam Edge and around the Peak District. Hosting marquee weddings with 250 guests from May until September.
Newly renovated, Dunston Hall is a 10-bedroom property on the edge of the Derbyshire Dales, located near Chesterfield. The space can look after 120 guests within a marquee and there is a host of indoor spaces to cater for additional elements throughout the weekend.
A marquee wedding offers freedom, flexibility and finesse. There are a thousand different ways to create something wonderful within a marquee, with endless possibilities for creativity. Often, marquees are held within family homes or private land, making the added nostalgia factor and layers of meaning connected with the location all the more special. I will always be in full support of any couple wanting a marquee wedding, however, the moving parts and responsibility of a marquee wedding can be overwhelming and difficult to manage, as you’re essentially building the whole world of your wedding from scratch.
