York is one of the UK’s most quintessentially historic cities, rich with culture and character and full of English charm that visitors from around the world fall for. Rebecca and Mike were no exception, choosing to travel from their home in Philadelphia in the USA for a York city wedding.
Rebecca’s mother married in a local church in York when she was young, and Rebecca grew up visiting the city each summer and developed fond memories of its narrow streets, Roman ruins and Viking history. When it came to planning Rebecca and Mike’s wedding, they knew York was the place – and that hiring a wedding planner was essential!
Rebecca: “My husband and I were fortunate enough to meet Jess in Spring 2022. Over the course of the year, we bought a house and had a baby while planning a Yorkshire wedding from the US (panic!!). Jess was with us every step of the way, a calming presence amongst the chaos.”
Together we planned a city sleek weekend wedding, with an informal pre wedding party on Friday night in the centre of York. The design and vibe of the wedding day was pared back and chic, with lots of greenery and abundant candlelight. Rebecca and Mike themselves radiated classic style, and their images from around York Minster are nothing short of iconic.
The key components to successfully planning Rebecca and Mike’s York city wedding were working across time zones, creating the perfect essence for the day, and curating an atmosphere where their international guests could relax, have fun, and enjoy their trip in the UK.
Rebecca and Mike work in Philadelphia and both operate unusual hours, so communication and organisation were on point to allow us to meet at mutually convenient times. We were practical with their budget and used it strategically to get the absolute most out of it, reflected in these lovely words from the couple:
